All seems to be in full swing over on the allotment. Planting season is well under way and this year we’ve got the use of a poly tunnel as well as our small greenhouse which has meant more time spent outdoors digging, watering and generally getting our hands dirty. The beds have been dug over (well, almost) and the potatoes, garlic, onions, pak choi, broad beans and Jerusalem artichokes (a swap from the York spring Food Swap) are all in the ground. We’ve still got the kale, chard, purple sprouting broccoli, leeks and lupins pushing through in the safety of the greenhouse and as for the poly tunnel, we’ve transplanted a fair few tomato plants, chillies, a few aubergines, cucumbers and some gherkins. Here’s hoping for a plentiful harvest this year and a good supply of fresh produce to swap!
